Lots of Driving

So here's the low down on Monday and Sunday:

SUNDAY

1.  BEACH!
2. Some accounting to make sure bank account balances with our record keeping.

MONDAY

1.  Went to a few appliance stores to look for a nice shiny new big stainless steel fridge and a washer and dryer.  No luck.

2.  Architectural salvage store to look for a really cool craftsman front door.  No luck.

3.  Went to Expo to price new appliances.  Found a really cool washer and dryer unit.  Also talked to a lady about their designer services, which we will probably use.  Had two framing contractors come by to offer bids.

We will probably need to rip out the subflooring as that stinks of urine.

Productive day!  Tomorrow I am planning on getting some sleep as I am sick.  My dad will pick up some workers to continue ripping up the floor and taking out the drywall.  Basically demo resumes tomorrow!

Demo begins!

Today started at the crack of 7 AM.

First on our agenda was picking up a worker to take out the cat urine-stained hardwood floors.  This was my first time picking up a worker and I do not think I will be doing it by myself any time soon.  There were a bunch of (mostly Mexican) clearly very poor men standing around.  As soon as they saw my dad's Porsche they jumped up and swarmed around the car, yelling out "pick me!" and all kinds of advertisements about the kind of work they do.  So my dad picked out the most vocal and agressive among them.  They went to the flip house while I went to a grocery store with a list of various foods/supplies.

Progress today:

1.  Stinky stained hardwood floor in living room totally ripped out.  Cat urine has stained the floor boards underneath, so hopefully that can be fixed by the odor guys.

2.  Sketched where to rip out drywall (also to remedy odor problem).

3.  various screws and nails removed

4.  electrical face plates in the way of removing drywall removed.

5.  Home Depot run to get ladder, wood, and other materials.  Also, Home Depot carries PowerAde ZERO, a totally yumtastic way to enjoy powerade without the sugar!  Yay!

closing!

So my dad got here yesterday because we though we would close then.  We did not because the bank is fussy...Seriously, minor details and way too much BS.

Surprise surprise....we closed today!  The bank funded the loan and around 5 PM the seller agent called us to "congratulate" us and let us know when we could pick up our keys.

In heavy 5 PM San Diego traffic we headed over to her office and some old dude who was really hard of hearing let us in cause we were early.  And WOAH what a retro office...really fitting considering the type of people the sellers are...tooootally needed a remodel.  It smelled like a second hand store.

So we got our keys and garage door openers and "celebrated" in the Wendy's downstairs amidst hooligans, theifs, drug dealers, and other fabulous folk and dined on our bunless baconators and Diet Cokes.

In a few minutes we are off to our newly acquired property to meet with a cabinet guy.

All in all, a very eventful day.

Day 0

Today was my last day at my 9-5 job. I am so stoked to be on my way to self employment! However, I did learn many things at this job which will be helpful to my current life as Flip Girl:

1: 9-5 jobs suck, so I better try my damndest to make this flip work out financially.

2: You can't give up or freak out if something doesn't work the first time, or doesn't work out as smoothly as planned.

3: Patience.

So not much else to report for today. Escrow lady called because she needed to know my current apartment residence to verify my rent. We were supposed to close earlier this week, so this is not a good sign. Architect is still putzing around with our plans, and is out of town till Monday. Architect also has a glitch in billing (oops, his bad). My dad is probably driving down this coming week (yay!).

Will keep camera on me at all times to take pictures of ideas.
